Therapy in Midtown Sacramento, CA

Midtown officially runs up to Alhambra Boulevard on its eastern edge — which happens to be exactly where my office sits. So if you’re anywhere on the Grid, from the Handle to Sutter’s Fort to Lavender Heights, you’re not looking at some cross-town drive to see me. You’re looking at a few minutes down J or H Street.

Walk-and-Talk sessions at McKinley Park

Midtown was basically built for walking — it’s the reason people move here, and the numbered-and-lettered grid makes it an easy walk or bike ride right up to my office. For clients who find it easier to talk while moving than sitting still in an office chair, I offer Walk-and-Talk sessions at McKinley Park, right by my office just north of McKinley Blvd — close enough that a lot of Midtown clients walk or bike over for it anyway.

Who I work with

Individuals, couples, families, and teens. I have a real affinity for working with adolescent boys and men — with or without a partner in the room — because that’s the population I understand best, including from the client’s chair. I also work with teachers specifically through Teacher Therapy, which matters in a neighborhood with a lot of folks commuting in and out of Sacramento City Unified schools every day.

Why I do this the way I do it

I’m not a “silent stare and nod” therapist. At 17, a drunk driver put me in a coma and left me with PTSD I didn’t understand at the time. My mom pushed me into therapy and I hated it — quit after a handful of sessions with a therapist I never connected with. Years later I gave it another shot, and the difference was night and day: someone who actually engaged with me, asked real questions, gave real advice. That’s who I try to be for my own clients now. I jump in. I ask questions. I tell you what I actually think.

Getting to my office

418 B Alhambra Blvd is a short drive, bike ride, or light-rail hop from most of Midtown, with quick access off Business 80 — close enough that plenty of clients just walk over. If getting across town isn’t in the cards some weeks, I also offer remote sessions anywhere in California.
