Carmichael is far enough out that I’ll be straight with you: it’s not a five-minute trip to my office on Alhambra Blvd. It’s more like a 20-minute drive down Fair Oaks Blvd or Arden Way, depending on where in Carmichael you’re starting from. I don’t travel out to Carmichael for sessions, so it’s one of two things: you make the drive in, or we meet remotely — both are genuinely on the table, and plenty of my Carmichael clients do a mix of both.
In-person at my office, or remote
If you’re up for the drive, my office in East Sacramento is straightforward to get to off Business 80, and once you’re here, Walk-and-Talk sessions at McKinley Park (right across the street) are an option instead of sitting in a chair. If the drive isn’t realistic every week, remote video sessions cover the same ground with no travel at all.
Who I work with
Individuals, couples, families, and teens, with a real focus on adolescent boys and men — with or without a partner. I also work specifically with teachers through Teacher Therapy. Given the drive, a lot of my Carmichael clients end up doing a mix: an occasional in-person or Walk-and-Talk session, with remote video sessions filling in the gaps.
Why I do this the way I do it
At 17 I survived a near-fatal car accident and came out with PTSD I didn’t recognize at the time. My mom got me into therapy — I hated it, thought it was pointless, and quit. It took another five years and a genuinely rough stretch before I gave it another shot, and that time it worked, mostly because the therapist actually engaged with me instead of sitting there nodding. That shaped how I practice now: I ask real questions, I jump in, and I give real feedback instead of playing it clinically neutral. If you’ve got a teenager who thinks therapy is dumb, I get it — I thought so too. Bring them anyway.
Getting to my office
My office is at 418 B Alhambra Blvd, about 20 minutes from most of Carmichael via Fair Oaks Blvd or Arden Way, with easy access off Business 80. If the drive doesn’t fit your week, remote video sessions are available anywhere in California.
