My office is at 418 B Alhambra Blvd, just off Business 80 — which means if you live in East Sac, I’m not “your neighborhood therapist” as a marketing line. I actually am one. McKinley Park is basically across the street, just north of McKinley Blvd. There’s a decent chance we’ve been at the same Pops in the Park concert or waited in the same line at the farmers market.
Walk-and-Talk sessions right by my office
A lot of my clients don’t love sitting across from me in a chair, staring at each other, first session or fiftieth. So for people who do better moving, I offer Walk-and-Talk therapy right out of my office — we loop the path around McKinley Park itself, which is flat, shaded, and about a mile around. If you’re the type who thinks better when your legs are moving instead of when you’re pinned to a couch, this is worth asking about.
Who I work with
I see individuals, couples, and families — teens included. I have a particular soft spot for adolescent boys and men who don’t especially want to be in a therapist’s office, because I was that kid once (more on that below). I also run a service specifically for teachers through Teacher Therapy, since a lot of East Sac families have someone in the house grading papers at 9pm with nothing left to give their own kids.
Why I do this the way I do it
At 17 I was in a near-fatal car accident with a drunk driver. Came out of it with PTSD I didn’t even recognize at the time. My mom made me go to therapy — I hated it, thought it was dumb, quit. It took me another five years and a rough patch to give it a real shot, and that time it actually helped, mostly because the therapist treated me like a person instead of running a script. That’s the model I use now: I ask real questions, I jump in, I give actual encouragement and advice instead of the silent stare-and-nod. If you’ve got a teenager who thinks therapy is dumb too — that’s normal. Bring them anyway.
Getting to my office
418 B Alhambra Blvd sits right at the edge of McKinley Park, an easy walk or bike ride from most of East Sac, the Fabulous Forties, and River Park, with quick access off Business 80 if you’re driving in. Street parking is generally easy to find. If a commute isn’t realistic on a given week, I also see clients remotely anywhere in California — same me, just on a screen.
