# Therapy in Land Park, Sacramento, CA

Land Park is one of those Sacramento neighborhoods where everybody’s routines run through the same 200-plus acres of park — the zoo, Fairytale Town, the golf course, or just the loop trail around the lake. My office on Alhambra Blvd is a straightforward drive up from there.

## Walk-and-Talk sessions at McKinley Park

For clients who open up more easily while moving than while sitting across from me, I offer [Walk-and-Talk therapy](https://rivercitycounseling.com/sacramento-counseling-services/outdoor-walk-and-talk-therapy-in-sacramento-who-it-helps-most/) at McKinley Park, right by my office. It’s a straightforward add-on to the drive up from Land Park — instead of a chair, we do the session on the park’s shaded loop. It’s not a gimmick — some people genuinely think and talk more honestly when they’re not pinned in a chair.

## Who I work with

I see individuals, couples, families, and teens, with a particular focus on adolescent boys and men — with or without a partner. Land Park has a lot of multi-generation households and families who’ve been in the neighborhood a long time, and I also work with teachers directly through [Teacher Therapy](https://rivercitycounseling.com/sacramento-counseling-services/teacher-therapy-nearby-in-sacramento-ca-the-right-support-for-the-people-holding-the-classroom-together/), for the people who spend all day giving to other people’s kids.

## Why I do this the way I do it

I was a reluctant therapy client myself. At 17 I survived a near-fatal car accident and came out with PTSD I didn’t recognize at the time. My mom got me into therapy and I hated it — quit after a few sessions. Years later, in a rough patch, I gave it another shot, and it worked, because that therapist actually engaged with me instead of just nodding along. That’s the model I bring now: real questions, real feedback, real advice, not a clinical wall. If your teenager thinks therapy is dumb, that’s exactly how I felt too. Bring them anyway.

## Getting to my office

From most of Land Park, it’s a straightforward drive up Freeport Blvd or Riverside toward Alhambra, with easy access off Business 80 once you’re close. If a drive across town doesn’t work some weeks, I also see clients remotely anywhere in California.
