Hey Mom, Just Text Me

I recently was featured on the local NBC station talking about kids and cellphones.  After sharing the link with friends and colleagues and at a parenting seminar, I found it interesting how many different philosophies parents have on the issue of when their kids should get them.  Some mentioned being single parents and how they want their child to be in-touch whenever necessary.  Others have allowed their children to have phones earlier than others, promising their kids that they’ll monitor their use.  Then life got in the way, and monitoring went by the wayside.  Others have held off for as long as possible, wondering if their kids really “need” them.  I’ve included the link to my appearance, in hopes that parents will think and rethink when they should allow their kids to have cellphones and how to monitor their usage.
